ALS discussing an enclosed signed deathbed confession by Abigail Barnes, a New Preston woman, stating that she had slandered a Nathanial Wheeler (now deceased) by stating under oath thirty years hence that he was the father of her illegitimate child. Day requests that Rev. Rexford make her confession public in Huntington so that Wheeler's "injured character" is restored. Accompanied by the confession in an unidentified hand signed by Barnes and witnesses; the verso contains Day's statement dated March 23, 1800, that he had read the confession publicly before his congregation.
